Giants Host Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick
Team Championship at Giants Stadium

40 young athletes compete at halftime during Giants game against Vikings

Giants PPK Contestants showed off their passing skills at halftime during the Giants/Vikings game.
Many NFL stars began their football careers by taking part in NFL youth programs as youngsters. Yesterday at Giants Stadium, the Giants hosted the team championship round of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) competition. Over 3.5 million young kids, ages eight to fifteen years, took part in the PPK program in 2005.

Twenty boys and twenty girls, who qualified for the Giants Team Championship by winning the local and sectional PPK competitions in their age group, arrived with their families at Giants stadium early Sunday morning before their favorite team, the Giants, battled NFL rival the Minnesota Vikings later that day. The young athletes competed on the field at Giants Stadium as they tested their punting, passing and kicking skills for the chance to advance to the PPK Finals, which takes place in January 2006 at the AFC Divisional Championship game.

The biggest thrill for the group came at halftime of the Giants-Vikings game when the young athletes got the chance to show off their passing skills. At the beginning of halftime, the group ran onto the stadium field and lined up while they took turns showing off their throwing ability in front of a crowd of 80,000 cheering fans. The group also welcomed guests from the Special Olympics New Jersey Sports Complex. Trey Walker from Plainfield, NJ, Luke Conticchio from Colonia, NJ and Michael McGrath from Hazlet, NJ competed at the Giants Special Olympics PPK competition at Giants Stadium on November 1, which was hosted by Giants Jay Feely and Chad Morton. These contestants also showcased their passing skills at halftime and were greeted with cheers from the crowd.

Congratulations to the Pepsi PPK winners from the Giants Team Championship!
