Updated October 23, 2006 Giants Over Cowboys, 36-22 IRVING, Texas – It’s still early in the season, but right now the Giants are the beasts of the NFC East.
The defending division champions marched into Texas Stadium Monday night and defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 36-22. The victory, the Giants second here in two years, improved their record to 4-2 and vaulted them into a first place, a half-game ahead of Philadelphia. Dallas fell to 3-3.
The Giants improved to 3-0 in the NFC East for the first time since 1997. They are 3-1 on the road. The Giants have emerged from their grueling six-game start with two games over .500 and with home games the next three weeks against Tampa Bay, Houston and Chicago.
The Giants had several scoring contributors. Eli Manning threw touchdown passes to Plaxico Burress and Jeremy Shockey, Brandon Jacobs scored on a short run, Jay Feely kicked two field goals, Kevin Dockery returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown and LaVar Arrington sacked Drew Bledsoe for a safety.
The big negative for the Giants was the season-ending torn Achilles tendon suffered by Arrington in the second quarter. More
