Giants Over Buccaneers, 17-3
The winning team punted eight times. The losing team never got within 20 yards of the end zone. The dominant element in the game was the wind.

Not that the Giants were complaining. With their defense dominating the Tampa Bay offense, the Giants earned a 17-3 victory over the Buccaneers in breezy Giants Stadium.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the 5-2 Giants, matching their longest winning streak under Tom Coughlin. They won four games in a row early in the 2004 season.

Tampa Bay fell to 2-5.

Both offense struggled to function on the chilly, windy day. Gusts as high as 40 miles-per-hour carried several passes far from their intended targets. When the quarterbacks did find their receivers, they frequently dropped the ball. After the Giants scored two first-half touchdowns, the defense kept Tampa Bay from threatening the rest of the game.

Plaxico Burress (seven-yard reception) and Brandon Jacobs (one-yard run) scored touchdowns for the Giants. Jay Feely kicked a late 31-yard field goal.

Matt Bryant kicked a 43-yard field goal for the Buccaneers’ only points. More

Quote of the Week
“You have to give Eli and the receivers a lot of credit. They made a lot of big plays down field. I think it really opened up the run game. And you can attribute it the other way, too, that our run game opened up the pass game. We wanted to come out fast, and we did. We are certainly very ecstatic about where we are. Coming off the bye week, everybody was concerned. But again, we talked about coming out fast and we did. After scoring on the first drive we never looked back." - C Shaun O'Hara on the Giants offensive performance
