OVERVIEW
Perhaps the most highly touted transfer in Southern Illinois history, Brandon joined fellow transfers Terry Jackson (Minnesota) and Arkee Whitlock (Coffeyville Community College) in forming the most explosive backfield in college football at any level. Jacobs led a running corps that accounted for 42 of the team's 65 touchdowns and 3404 of the squad;s 6032 yards in total offense during his only season with the Salukis.
Jacobs was a standout running back at Assumption High School. He led the team to the Class 4A state semi-finals as a senior, earning USA Today All-American, Orlando Sentinel All-Southern, Prep Star All-Region and Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Class 4A all-state team recognition. He was also a Louisiana High School Coaches Association Foot-ball All-Star. Brandon rushed for 233 yards on 26 carries and scored a touchdown in the Tri-Parish All-Star Game. As a senior, he gained 3,022 yards and 38 touchdowns, averaging 8.6 yards per carry. He rushed for 1,783 yards and 18 touchdowns and caught three passes for 50 yards and a score during his junior campaign. During his last two prep seasons, he also returned eight kicks for touchdowns.
Brandon enrolled at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College in 2001 and rushed for 927 yards and thirteen touchdowns on 130 carries (7.1 avg) in ten regular season games, adding 422 yards and four scores in playoff action en route to being named to the All-Jayhawk Conference team. In 2002, he led the conference in rushing with 1638 yards and 17 touchdowns on 243 carries (6.7 avg), adding another 258 yards and three scores on 24 carries in the playoffs.
Brandon enrolled at Auburn for the 2003 season. He was part of a shuttling system at halfback, sharing time with Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams. He finished the year ranked second on the team with 72 carries for 446 yards (6.2 avg) and three touchdowns. Hoping to get an opportunity for more playing time, Jacobs again transferred, arriving on Southern Illinois' campus prior to the 2004 season. Even though he still had to split time with Terry Jackson and Arkee Whitlock, he totaled 992 yards with sixteen touchdowns on 150 carries (6.6 avg), adding 83 yards on eight receptions (10.4 avg) and 140 yards on six kickoff returns (23.3 avg).
In three collegiate stops, Brandon performed in 42 games. He gained a total of 4003 yards with 52 touchdowns on 595 carries (6.7 avg), caught twelve passes for 136 yards (11.3 avg) and returned six kickoffs for 140 yards (23.3 avg).

2004 SEASON
All-American first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report...All-Gateway Conference first-team choice...Named Gateway Conference Newcomer of the Year...Led the conference and ranked tenth in the nation in scoring, averaging 9.5 points per game...Led the team with 150 carries for 992 yards (6.6 avg) and 19 touchdowns...Only Muhammad Abdulgaader (20 in 2000) had more touchdowns rushing in a season for the Salukis...Had eight receptions for 83 yards (10.4 avg) and returned six kickoffs for 140 yards (23.3 avg)... Also recorded a solo tackle.
2004 GAME ANALYSIS
Southeast Missouri...Began his SIU career with 18 carries for 106 yards and touchdowns of 1, 2, 2 & 29 yards.
Northern Illinois...Added 41 yards on 13 attempts and 11 yards on two catches.
William Penn...Gained 63 yards on 13 rushes and scored on runs of 23 & 6 yards...Also caught two passes for 38 yards.
Delaware State...Ran for 16 yards on five tries with a 1-yard score.
Northern Iowa...Had 8 yards on three attempts.
Youngstown State...Followed with 82 yards on 16 rushes and caught an 8-yard pass.
Western Kentucky...Carried the ball 19 times for 97 yards and three 1-yard touchdowns.
Southwest Missouri State...Collected 151 yards on 16 carries and had an 11-yard reception.
Western Illinois...Rushed for 128 yards on 7 tries and had touchdowns of 18, 64 & 28 yards.
Illinois State...Had 12 yards on 4 attempts
Indiana State...Gained 122 yards on 11 attempts and scored on 50 & 14-yard runs...Made one catch for 4 yards and returned two kickoffs for 61 yards.
Eastern Washington (NCAA Division 1-AA Playoffs)...Closed out his career in explosive fashion, amassing 166 yards on 25 carries with touchdowns of 32, 2, 1 & 3 yards...Also had an 11-yard reception and four kickoff returns for 79 yards.
2003 SEASON
Saw action in every game as a reserve tailback at Auburn...Finished second on the team with 446 yards and three touchdowns on 72 carries (6.2 avg)...Added 34 yards on a reception and also recorded a solo tackle.
2003 GAME ANALYSIS
Vanderbilt...After not touching the ball in the Tigers' first two games vs. Southern California and
Georgia Tech, Brandon had 14 carries for 68 yards.
Western Kentucky...Followed with 103 yards on ten attempts, including a 19-yard touch-down that capped a 69-yard, 8-play drive in the third quarter.
Mississippi State...Exploded for 182 yards on 31 rushing attempts and also had a 34-yard reception.
Louisiana-Monroe...Carried ten times for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 20- yarder in the third quarter, where he carried two defenders into the end zone to conclude a 7- play, 60-yard drive.
2002 SEASON

2002 GAME ANALYSIS
Northeast Oklahoma...Gained 126 yards on 18 carries.
Hutchinson...On the game's first play from scrimmage, Brandon bounced left and took off down the sidelines for a 33-yard touchdown run...He set up a third quarter 25-yard field goal with a 48- yard scamper and carried several defenders for the final ten yards into the end zone for a 72-yard touchdown run...Finished with 22 carries for 107 yards.
Butler...Carried 22 times for 81 yards and a 1-yard touchdown.
Fort Scott...Set a school game-record with 46 carries, amassing 308 yards with 2, 2, 20 & 29- yard touchdowns.
Dodge City...Totaled 231 yards with a 6-yard score on 29 runs, gaining 187 yards in the first half.
Fort Scott (second meeting)...Rushed 23 times for 193 yards and scored on a 42-yard run with just 0:49 into the game.
Garden City...Collected 146 yards with 4 & 34-yard touchdowns on 29 chances.
2001 SEASON
Named to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference team...In ten regular season games, he gained 927 yards with thirteen touchdowns on 130 carries (7.1 avg)...
