Young Giants fans Jimmy Lewis, 9, and Matthew Lewis, 6 enjoy the festivities at the Spring event. |
GO GIANTS! That was the cheer heard loudly in bubble, from the mouths of some of the youngest Giants fans around. On Wednesday May 21, the Giants hosted the Spring Fun Event for their Junior Giants Fan Club in their practice bubble. More than 250 specially selected members of the fan club attended this afternoon of fun with their parents. |
Membership in the Junior Giants Fan Club entitles each member to be invited to one of the many events throughout the year. Former Giants fullback, Charles Way, once again hosted the event and brought cheers and smiles to all the children. Charles was accompanied by current Giants cornerback, #35 Kevin Dockery, #37 safety James Butler and tight end #88 Michael Matthews. The young fans remembered Butler as the player who covered Randy Moss in the final moments of Super Bowl XLII!
This was the first Junior Giants event since the Giants became World Champions and so the excitement at the event was greater than ever! The afternoon started with Charles leading the children in warm-up exercises including his famous game of "Simon Says...Giants style."
With their excitement built up and music playing in the background, the children were then able to participate in a variety of activities including obstacle course races, inflatable field goal kicks and football tosses, coloring, and face painting. Of course, there was an opportunity for all kids to get an autograph from all of the Giants players, as well as tour the stadium field. Another special guest - the official Giants team photographer, took pictures of the kids and their parents in front of the official Giants press backdrop. If the children were tired from all the activity, they could take a break and watch the Giants Road to the Super Bowl DVD on a TV and relive the greatest season in Giants history! Also, compliments of Best Bikes USA, there was a raffle in which 3 lucky fans won Giants-designed bicycles!
Junior Giants Fan Club members Jimmy and Matthew Lewis said, "We had the time of our lives!" "It was a very organized, fun event for the family to enjoy," said their mother, Denise Lewis.
