They will close out the first half of the season against another in expected starter Michael Vick when the Giants travel to play the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday before their bye week.
Before he was injured in their first meeting in Week 5, Vick completed 6 of 14 passes for 105 yards but hurt the Giants with his legs, rushing seven times for 79 yards.
“Everybody tried to defend the read option for the games prior to us,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said yesterday. “Michael Vick was in that position. That’s part of their offense and he kept the ball in those circumstances. He also kept the ball when he saw a lane open up in front of him, so he had a lot of yards in the first half rushing, which can be frustrating, but no. We had responsibilities for him, particularly in the option game, and of course, trying to keep him enclosed in the pass game, but he took off and did a nice job of that, which is part of the style of that offense. They depend on that.” That leads us to our Morning Debate:
- Michael Vick (PHI)
- Terrelle Pryor (OAK)
- Aaron Rodgers (GB)
- Tony Romo (DAL)
- Robert Griffin III (WAS)
- Philip Rivers (SD)
- Russell Wilson (SEA)
- Matthew Stafford (DET)
