GIANTS TAKE PART IN MY CAUSE MY CLEATS CAMPAIGN
BY CHARLIE MULE
In Week 13 of NFL action, players had the opportunity to share the causes that are important to them as part of the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign. The initiative was a culmination of 18 months of work between the NFL and players across the league. It included a collaborative, online storytelling platform with The Players’ Tribune, through which players told the stories behind their cleats throughout the season.
During Week 13, more than 500 NFL players, including members of the Giants, showcased their causes during games with custom cleats. Every pair of cleats told a story and raised awareness for a cause the player supports. Players also shared images of their cleats and the stories behind them on social media, using the hashtag #mycausemycleats.
“One of the great NFL traditions is how our players passionately support important causes in their communities and around the globe every year,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “They are incredibly creative by nature, so we are not surprised how they are seizing the opportunity this week with inspiring expressions of their charitable commitments on their cleats, online and through social media.”
Players had the opportunity to raise funds for the cause of their choice by auctioning their cleats off at NFL Auction, and 100 percent of the funds get donated to the charities selected by the players.
Many of the cleats the Giants wore were designed by Kickasso like Picasso. Troy Cole, Kickasso's owner, has customized many of Odell Beckham Jr.'s cleats this season. Here's a few more looks:
@eflow_74 this week is all about #mycausemycleats . He is supporting Good Grief who works to raise awareness and advocate for grieving children and families to ensure that no child ever has to grieve alone after the loss of a mother, father, brother or sister . To quote Picasso "it took me 4 years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."
