There’s something about moves on the football field that translates to moves on the dance floor.

On Tuesday night, former Giants running back Rashad Jennings and his partner Emma Slater won season 24 of Dancing with the Stars, defeating former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross and Lindsay Arnold. Jennings and Slater took home the Mirrorball Trophy based on viewer votes and judges’ points from Monday and Tuesday night’s finale.

The eight-year veteran became the fourth NFL player to win DWTS, following in the footsteps of Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Donald Driver.

"It’s definitely harder because it’s something we don’t do on the daily,” Jennings said Wednesday on Good Morning America. “I’ve never been in frame. I thought a frame was a picture frame. It was way harder than football."

"I think honestly for us it was just our friendship,” added Slater, a DWTS pro for seven seasons. “We’re really, really close friends, and I trusted him so much. I really depended on him because he was so positive, his work ethic. It was all Rashad. I can’t take [credit for] anything. He was just amazing. He’s the winning combination right here.”

Slater credited Jennings for spending 362 hours of rehearsal time. The hard work paid off week after week, culminating in the two-night finale. Jennings and Slater earned perfect scores on Monday for their Viennese Waltz and freestyle dances. On Tuesday, they earned three perfect scores and one ‘9’ for their Cha-Cha-Cha Tango fusion dance.

Jennings and Slater are both headed out on the road now for the Dancing with the Stars: Live! – Hot Summer Nights tour.
