Giants.com highlights five takeaways from Thursday's OTA practice:

We’re halfway there, Giants fans.

As the NFL hit 100 days to Kickoff Weekend, the New York Giants reached the midway point of organized team activities on Thursday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

A pair of young tight ends led what was a loaded highlight reel during the fifth of 10 OTA practices. Let’s get to it.

Here are five things we learned from OTA No. 5:

1. LaCOSSE HAD ANOTHER BIG DAY

After a productive day on Wednesday running with the first team, tight end Matt LaCosse followed it up with another on Thursday. The Illinois product, who went undrafted in 2015 and spent time on the Giants’ practice squad before dressing for the final two games, had the highlight of the day, ripping down a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Ryan Nassib in the back of the end zone. On the way back to the huddle, coach Ben McAdoo yelled “good play” to the tight end, a position he coached for six seasons in Green Bay.

2. ROOKIE ADAMS MADE PRESENCE FELT

Tight end Jerell Adams, the Giants’ sixth-round choice out of South Carolina, has been coming along at OTAs and had his best practice yet in terms of pass-catching. He hauled in a handful of throws, including a long touchdown from third-string quarterback B.J. Daniels. Adams broke free and was wide open on the play.

It’s a good step for Adams, who takes pride in putting his hand in the dirt and getting down to block. Now he’s trying to show he can be a complete player. Back at the draft, ESPN analyst Todd McShay said he could turn out to be the best tight end in his class.

3. BIG BLUE WENT GREEN
The Giants opened team drills with work in the red zone, or the “green” zone as it’s called by the team. That’s where LaCosse caught his touchdown, in addition to a pair of short touchdowns from Eli Manning to running backs Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams. Undrafted wide receiver Roger Lewis also made a difficult catch in the end zone on a pass from Daniels, using one hand to pull the ball in for a score.

4. DAVIS WENT TOE-TO-TOE WITH JENKINS

LaCaosse’s touchdown was the play of the day, but the one Geremy Davis caught later in practice wasn’t far behind. The second-year wide receiver went up to grab a fade pass from Manning in the end zone and caught it with cornerback Janoris Jenkins in pursuit. It was another plus for Davis, who has been active so far at OTAs, especially with Victor Cruz likely sidelined until training camp. Davis, a sixth-round pick last year, played in 10 games as a rookie but caught just two passes for 21 yards.

5. DRC AND JENKINS LOCKED DOWN

Despite the play by Davis, Jenkins overall has looked as good as advertised since the coveted free agent signed with the Giants in March. He was all over the ball again today, beginning with a forced incompletion on the first play of team drills. He later broke up a pass from Manning intended for LaCosse. Meanwhile, his counterpart Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie made a few nice plays today, including breaking up a pass late in the no-huddle period.

Remaining OTAs: June 3, June 6-7, June 9-10. Mandatory Minicamp is June 14-16.
