The Giants returned to the practice field today and as has been the norm, their injury list included several cornerbacks. Corey Webster and Terrell Thomas have been mainstays. Trumaine McBride is no longer on the list, but Prince Amukamara was added because of an illness.
“They (the team’s medical staff) decided that it would be best if (Amukamara) didn’t work today,” Coughlin said.
Webster, who has missed the last five games and played in just four all season, will be limited with an ankle injury. Thomas will get his normal day of rest to reduce the stress on his surgically-repaired knee.
Defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins is not going to practice because of soreness in his legs.
“(He) appeared to be working really well yesterday, but for whatever reason, they’re not going to let him go today,” Coughlin said.
Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) and safety Cooper Taylor (hamstring) will also miss practice.
Late yesterday, the Giants placed running back Brandon Jacobs on injured reserve. Jacobs, who was signed on Sept. 10, played in seven games and missed five with injures. He leads the team with four rushing touchdowns and is second with 238 yards. But Jacobs did not play the last two weeks because of his knee injury.
Jacobs has 5,946 total yards and needed 54 to become the 10th player in history to reach 6,000 yards in a Giants uniform.
