With that said, on the heels of the preseason announcement, two matchups with the defending Super Bowl champion Giants made the top three of the list.
Coming in at No. 3 – and the only one tagged with a date so far – is the annual kickoff game when Big Blue hosts the Cowboys on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 8:30 p.m.
With the Denver Broncos at New England Patriots sandwiched in between at No. 2, the NFC Championship rematch of Giants vs. 49ers will headline the 2012 regular season, according to the list.
“It's hard to pick one game as THE matchup to circle in the 2012 campaign,” Harrison writes. “But it's hard to argue with Giants-Niners. The NFC title battle between these two was freaking epic. Close calls, special teams gaffes, big plays, great defense and overtime decided one of the best conference championships ever.”
The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks, and we already know the Giants will be playing the NFC South, AFC North, as well as the Packers and aforementioned 49ers.
