The Giants today announced the signing of three players to reserve/future contracts: guards Bryant Browning and Chris DeGeare and defensive back David Caldwell.
Bryant, 6-4 and 325 pounds, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with St. Louis in 2011. He was waived and claimed by Carolina. Bryant spent most of that season on the Panthers’ practice squad, though he played briefly in two games late in the season before going on injured reserve. In 2012, the Ohio State product split time between the practice squads of the Panthers and Cleveland Browns.
DeGeare, also 6-4 and 325 pounds, was a 2010 fifth-round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings – 161st overall pick – from Wake Forest. He started the final five games of that season at left guard. In 2011, he was waived at the end of training camp and spent the season on the practice squad. DeGeare spent most of the 2012 season on the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad.
Caldwell is a 5-11, 219-pound safety from William & Mary. He joined the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 20101 and spent that season on injured reserve. In 2011, he played in all 16 games with 13 starts and was credited with 62 tackles (39 solo) and four passes defensed. Caldwell was waived last summer by the Colts and did not play football in 2012.
