The Giants received an additional seventh-round choice in the upcoming NFL draft

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today received an additional seventh-round draft choice when the NFL awarded a total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Giants’ choice is the 47th in the seventh round, the 253rd overall selection. It is the second-to-last pick in the draft.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices will supplement the 222 choices in the seven rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft, which will be held from April 25-27.

In 2012, the Giants lost free agents Mario Manningham, Aaron Ross and Dave Tollefson and signed Martellus Bennett, Sean Locklear and Shaun Rogers.

The Giants will have eight selections in the seven-round draft.
