Cornerback
Prince Amukamara
will practice on a limited basis today when the Giants begin full-scale preparations for their game Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Amukamara, the Giants’ first-round draft choice in 2011, missed the season opener vs. Dallas last week with an ankle sprain.
“He will try to pick up where we left off Monday and see if we can allow him to continue to work,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “He does have some issues. He’s just fighting his way through them.”
*Defensive tackle
Marvin Austin
, who did not play last week because of a back injury, will practice.
*Center
David Baas
was added to the injury list with a sore hip, but Coughlin said, “He has some nagging issues there – he’ll practice.”
*Linebacker
Keith Rivers
(hamstring) will be limited.
*Tackle
Will Beatty
, who did not start at left tackle last week after missing the preseason with a back injury, is not on the injury list. Asked if that meant Beatty is no longer injured, Coughlin said, “I asked that question myself. He will continue to progress the way we’ve been bringing him along with the number of snaps that he gets and again, try to make up for all of the lost time.”
Sean Locklear
has started at left tackle in Beatty’s place. Coughlin would not say if Beatty will return to the starting lineup if he is healthy. “We’ll see,” Coughlin said.
*Rookie running back
David Wilson
did not have a rushing attempt last week after fumbling on his second carry. Wilson has worked on improving his ball security.
“He’s anxious and wants to do right,” Coughlin said. “He’s a little bit out of the doghouse.”
