Landon Collins was named the NFC's top defensive player for Week 11 thanks to his performance against the Chiefs:

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Landon Collins today became the first Giants player to receive an NFL weekly honor this season.

Collins, the team’s third-year safety, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his superb performance in the Giants’ 12-9 overtime victory on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs in MetLife Stadium.

Collins led the Giants with a career-high 14 tackles (10 solo) and intercepted his second pass of the season. He had nine tackles (seven solo) and the interception in the second half and overtime.

On one third-quarter series, Collins stopped running back Kareem Hunt for no gain and five plays later, tackled wide receiver Tyreek Hill for a one-yard loss. In the fourth quarter, Collins stopped a Chiefs’ drive when he intercepted a pass thrown by tight end Travis Kelce at the Giants 14-yard line. Collins tackled quarterback Alex Smith on the Chiefs’ final offensive snap of the fourth quarter, forcing them to kick a field goal that sent the game into overtime.

This is Collins’ third Defensive Player of the Week Award in the last two seasons. In 2016, he was honored for his play in consecutive games (with a bye in-between).

Collins was first cited for his work in a Week 7 victory against the Rams in London, where he intercepted two passes, including one he returned 44 yards for a touchdown, and had eight tackles. He was honored again after the Giants’ next game, when he had 12 tackles and an interception in a victory against Philadelphia. Collins was also named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November.
