Make The Case: OT Matthews vs. DT Donald

Media experts give their take on who the Giants should draft with the 12th pick

“We have to draft this player because he can do A,B, C.” “No, we should select that player because he can do X, Y, Z.”

These are the debates that will continue to be waged in front offices across the NFL until commissioner Roger Goodell steps in front of the podium at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night.

In our “Make the Case” web series, we look at the selections provided by two NFL draft experts and their reasons why. Then we ask you, the fans, to weigh in on which player you would like the Giants to select if available at No. 12.

Today’s debate is on the line but on opposite sides of the ball.

NFL Media analyst Charles Davis projects Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews to go to the Giants, while FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager has them selecting defensive tackle Aaron Donald out of Pittsburgh.

Gants can't believe their luck. They land a "plug and play" OT to help QB Eli Manning.

The Giants were extremely active in free agency, but hated seeing up-and-coming DT Linval Joseph sign with Minnesota. Donald’s somewhat undersized, but pops off film and the production at the college level was off the charts. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash for defensive tackles at the Combine and was dominant at the Senior Bowl the entire week in Mobile. He’d be a great fit with what New York’s got going on.
So, Giants fans, if both players are available, who would you want the Giants to select? Comment below!
