Mike Mayock ranks the best players by position at the 2016 NFL Combine

It’s Mike Mayock season.

As the football community gathers in Indianapolis this week for the annual NFL Scouting Combine, the NFL Media draft analyst unveiled his first position-by-position rankings for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Mayock, a former Boston College defensive back who went on to play two NFL seasons with the Giants from 1982-83, said the deepest position group this year is “by far” the defensive line, especially the interior.

“Now I named my top five guys,” Mayock said, “but I could give you five more names [on the defensive line] who are probably every bit as good…I could go on 12 names deep where you might have conceivably a first-round grade. So there’s going to be some good defensive tackles that get pushed down a round or two in this draft because it’s so deep.”
