Conshohocken Native & NY Giants RB Da'Rel Scott Hosts 2nd Annual Youth Football Clinic

Conshohocken, PA – New York Giants running back Da’Rel Scott took the field early on Saturday, June 22nd in his hometown of Conshohocken, PA for his 2nd annual Youth Football Clinic.  With the help of friends, family and members of the community, Scott’s camp led 130 young athletes between the ages of 8-14 through non-contact drills on both offense and defense.

Scott is a graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in nearby Plymouth Meeting, PA where he excelled in both track and football.  He went on to attend the University of Maryland where he currently ranks eighth all-time for career rushing yards (2,401) and is one of four players in school history to record over 2,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards.  In 2011, Scott was drafted by the NY Giants and earned a Super Bowl ring with the team in 2012.
In addition to teaching the fundamentals of the game, Scott mentored participants in the value of hard work and dedication within both football and academics.  “I wanted to use this day to go beyond football a little bit and touch upon some of the issues facing kids in their age group,” said Scott.  “I talked about achieving good grades, showing respect to others and being disciplined – not letting others stand in the way of your success.  These were values taught to me at an early age so I felt it was important to share them.”

Participants received commemorative t-shirts and were treated to a free BBQ following the event.  The clinic was sponsored by BodyArmor SuperDrink, ClifBar, Tony and Joe’s Pizzeria, Giant Food Stores, PopChips, EyeBlack, as well as several local businesses.
