Head Coach: Jim Harbaugh, 18-5 Overall (2nd year)  

Connections: TE Bear Pascoe was drafted in the sixth round by the 49ers in 2009; C David Baas spent the first six years of his career (2005-2010) with the 49ers; QB David Carr spent the 2008  and 2009 seasons with the Giants, the 2010 season with the 49ers and returned to the Giants as a free agent in 2011.

Back at headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif.: “We’re already seeing the obvious things,” Harbaugh said Monday when asked about preparing for the Giants. “The outstanding team that they are. Explosive offense. Very balanced. Exceptionally balanced. They do everything well offensively. And defensively, the same. Great up front. Just all-around top team in the league.”
