Training Camp Confidential

*Linebackers Michael Boley and Keith Rivers did not practice with what Coughlin called “little hamstring (injuries).” He said they would miss “a couple days.” Spencer Paysinger worked with the first team at weakside linebacker.
 
*Running back Da’Rel Scott (ankle) sat out for the second day in a row.
 
*Coughlin did not have an update on defensive end Justin Trattou, who hurt his ankle yesterday.
 
*Cornerback Terrell Thomas left practice early to ice his surgically-repaired knee.
 
“I’m sure he’s going through making sure that he feels confident in himself,” Coughlin said. “He does pretty much everything, but I’m sure he’s going to have some doubts when he wants to make sure that he’s strong and confident.”

*Second-year linebacker Greg Jones, who played in the middle last year, has been lining up outside. 

“He’s practiced well,” Coughlin said. “Ever since camp opened, he’s practiced well, he’s run well. He appears to be around the ball.” 

*Tight end Martellus Bennett made a couple of very good catches, including one in which he jumped over Kenny Phillips in a red zone drill…Rookie wideout Rueben Randle had a couple of nice grabs.

*Tyrone Wheatley, the Giants’ first-round draft choice in 1995, visited practice. Wheatley remains a close friend of former teammate Charles Way, now the Giants’ Director of Player Development. Wheatley is currently the running backs coach at Syracuse University.

*Today’s camp attendance was 2,450.

*The Giants, PYX 106 and NewsChannel 13 are teaming up with the American Red Cross to host the New York Giants Training Camp Blood Drive on Thursday, August 2, from noon to 7 p.m.  The event will be held at the Best Western Sovereign Hotel, 1228 Western Avenue, Albany, N.Y. 12203, across from the team’s training camp site at the University at Albany.

Each presenting donor will have their photo taken with the Super Bowl Trophy, and the first 500 presenting donors will also receive a limited edition Giants commemorative T-shirt. Giants legends George Martin, Ottis Anderson and Joe Morris will appear throughout the day to greet donors and sign autographs.
