Williams, who made his fifth career start, rushed 24 times for 131 yards in Week 14, including a 50-yard touchdown early in the second half to take a commanding lead over the Titans. He also caught three passes for 16 yards.
“He was on the spot with his cuts and he did demonstrate once again the power that we are counting on,” coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. “The more he plays, the better he gets, and the more opportunity he has. He helped us considerably getting started in a two-minute drill; that was a big plus.”
While it did not happen, the Giants could make the case for having two nominees this week as they became the first team to have rookies with at least 130 rushing yards (Williams) and 130 receiving yards (Odell Beckham Jr.) in the same game.
Speaking of Beckham, he won the award two weeks ago for his 10 receptions, 146 yards, and two touchdowns in a prime-time game against Dallas, which included “The Catch.” Beckham went on to be named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.
Fans can vote for Williams by CLICKING HERE through Friday at 3 p.m. ET. The winner will be announced later that day on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.
