Hixon: The knee was the least of my concerns with the concussion and high ankle. The knee was good though. Thank God. So I’m blessed.
Q: Do you think that’s enough to show teams that you warrant a long contract?
A: I hope so. I just want to go out there and play hard. They gave me an opportunity after two knee surgeries to come back, so I just wanted to go out there and just repay them and thank them for giving me another opportunity.
Q: Have you had a chance to think about what the future holds?
A: No. You do think about it. As soon as everything was over and done yesterday, you kind of think where is it going to go from here? Is this the last time being in the building? A lot of different things go through your mind.
Q: Is it a little sentimentality with the fact that you don’t know?
A: It is because a lot of guys are still contracted from the last couple years, so they know where they’ll be at. It’s kind of up in the air for a lot of guys.
Q: Would you be willing to give the Giants a discount?
A: I think that’s whole business aspect of everything. When it comes down to it, I talked to some guys who have left from here and the grass isn’t green on the other side. We’ll see what happens. It’s an exciting time though.
Q: You’ve played well enough to deserve a contract though.
A: Who says what you deserve? I just try to go out and play hard every week and throughout practice.
