What are the chances of the Giants going from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4? The Giants’ pass rush and rush defense struggled mightily last year. Kiwi (Mathias Kiwanuka) is an ideal fit to be 3-4 olb/rush end if he's not moved into the defensive end. Having Kiwi, JPP (Jason Pierre-Paul) and (Justin) Tuck rush the passer would improve the pass rush and having a big NT and three run-stuffing LB's would improve the rush defense. Your thoughts?

I think the likelihood of the Giants’ switching to a 3-4 defense is extremely slim at best. Perry Fewell is a 4-3 defensive coordinator. And the Giants’ personnel is better suited to a 4-3. The Giants believe an outstanding defense starts with a strong front and they believe a 4-3 is more effective in stopping both the run and pass. No question, the defense struggled in 2012. But the coaches are confident it will improve in its present structure. Tuck, JPP and Kiwi will rush the passer in any alignment. And frankly, with Michael Boley no longer with the team, Chase Blackburn and Keith Rivers entering free agency and Kiwanuka perhaps preparing to play more end, the Giants would need several more linebackers to field a strong 3-4.
