It’s early, I know, but given the Giants’ issues with the offensive line, do you think the organization will focus on stabilizing the OL next year, especially the left tackle (considering there is no reliable backup)?
The 2014 season hasn’t yet begun and you’re already wondering about the priorities for next year? A couple of thoughts: We have a long road to travel before we can worry about next year. As Bill Parcells used to say, “In the NFL, you worry about this week, this week, and you worry about next week, next week.”
A year from now, we might have a vastly different opinion of the offensive line. Having said that, the line is a position group where you are constantly looking for reinforcements and upgrades. So, yes, I think the decision-makers will focus on it, because to some degree, they always do.
Tough decisions are coming at several positions, and cornerback is certainly one of them. Don’t forget, Jayron Hosley will serve an NFL suspension and miss the first four games, so that will enable another corner to stay for at least that long. DRC, Prince Amukamara, Walter Thurmond III, Trumaine McBride, Zack Bowman and Hosley are probably the top six. Don’t know if the Giants will keep that many. Bennett Jackson and Charles James II are also in contention.
Could Hyno (Henry Hynoski) cross over and be the H-back/2nd TE, thus creating an opportunity to keep John Conner over a third TE?
Another fan looking to push out the tight ends. I’ve not seen Hynoski line up at tight end, so it doesn’t seem to be an option. And the Giants like their tight ends, so I don’t think they’ll keep an extra fullback to release a tight end.
