Why was Chris Snee out today?
Just a shoulder, sore.
Will he be out for any extended period of time?
I don't know the whole answer yet, but it didn't seem like it would be anything serious.
Did he get an MRI?
Yeah, he did the whole deal.
It looked like it took some time for the passing game to get on track today...
The defense is playing well.
Tom, you said the other day that Gerris Wilkinson would be evaluated.
They passed him. They decided to put him out there. He had a limited amount of work, but it's a good sign that he's out there. It was good to see the linebacker numbers increase today.
Any update on the injuries with the wide receivers?
It's difficult to do all the things you want to do. We have seven guys working and that allows us to do the things we want, but it is certainly not an excessive number.
What about Mario Manningham?
He does have an injury. He has a quad strain and it has some bleeding in it, so there's not much we can do.
So the doctors cleared Plaxico to do some running.
He's cleared to run. He's been running and has had two days of that.
Any indication of a time table?
Nope.
When you become the Super Bowl champs, does that help sell things to guys, like the whole team building aspect? Does it make it easier to get your messages across?
Well, I'm sure that it is a positive reinforcement for the things that we teach. The veteran players will be the first to talk to the new guys about it, I'm sure. From a team concept, there is no question about that part of it.
For the most part, camp has been pretty quiet in terms of outside distractions. How much does that make a difference about what happens on the field during practice?
Well, I think that your work is going to be affected by distractions, no matter what you say. We've been able to go about our business with a limited amount of things and that's been good. We like, obviously, to have everybody on the field. That's the frustrating thing about being a coach, and moving on and now looking right at your first preseason game knowing full well what these weeks are going to be like for us. We do have a nice long stretch between the first two games, but then the third and fourth are bang-bang. So what we've got to get done in camp has got to get done.
How bad is Shane Olivea?
They're running a bunch of tests. And I don't have any information on it, how he's doing. Obviously, he's not practicing. He's got some pain.
Do you know how it happened?
Actually, it looked like he had his best day of practice and then the next thing I know his back was bothering him.
Tom, what's the breakdown of the quarterbacks on Thursday?
We'll probably try to play them all. Maybe Eli just a little bit and then play the other guys.
And how's the offensive line look? I mean, they're all back and you won a Super Bowl, the starters?
They're working their way through two-a-days just like everybody is. We had Chris (Snee) out of there today, so Kevin Boothe was in there. We've done a good job of challenging both sides, both the defensive line and offensive line and that's helped. You know, one play will look very good on one side of the ball and the next play will look good on the opposite side of the ball. I thought we made a little progress today.
Anthony Wright will be in after Eli, is that correct?
Yeah, that'll be the order.
Is tomorrow morning kind of a walk through?
Tomorrow morning is going to be a jog through. They'll come down in their shirts and helmets, do a normal stretch, jog through their special teams and then they'll do a big separate deal where they're on opposite sides of the field and then we will come together and run some five on fives against each other, but it will just be jog through pace.
And the afternoon will be a regular practice?
The afternoon will be a regular practice, although I'm not sure exactly how that's going to go yet.
