The New York Giants Career Transition Program aims to help Giants players make a smooth transition into and out of professional football. The Career Transition Program is divided up into three areas: continuing education, financial education and career internships. These services are provided in consultation with the NFL's Player Development department, the Dean of Farleigh Dickinson University, the NFLPA, human resource professionals, and companies in the New York-New Jersey area.
The Player Assistance Program serves as the club's and the League's primary intervention program for players and their family members. Player Assistance is designed to help players and their family members connect with mental health resources needed to address personal issues that, if left unattended, can interfere with both job performance and overall life satisfaction. These confidential services are available to our players year round and are easily accessible to our players whether they are in the area or not.
The Training and Development Program is designed to address off-the-field player concerns and individual player development. The primary goal is to provide players with information and exposure to services that will enhance their decision-making abilities, while also providing them with the necessary skills to maximize their opportunities off the field. The New York Giants Training and Development Program currently consists of the NFL Rookie Symposium, Team Life Skills Seminars and Giants Steps to Success.
While Player Development is made up of these three main components, we have added another component that we believe is very important to the success of our football team. The Giants Activities Program has played a major role in developing team unity as well as creating a family atmosphere. This has become a vital component of Player Development due to the growing time requirements we place on our players. It offers them an opportunity to spend time with their teammates and families outside of their daily football activities.
