-          Originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Giants on June 21, 2005.

GIANTS NOTES:

-          Made the Giants 53-man roster out of training camp as a rookie free agent and has since been one of the team's most consistent contributors on special teams...Led the team in special teams tackles in each of the previous 4 seasons.
-          During the 2008 season earned a starter's role as the weakside linebacker and was also named a 1st alternate to the NFC Pro Bowl team.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

-          Has played in 63 regular season games with 11 starts and in 6 postseason games with 1 start...Career totals include 69 tackles (39 solo), 1 sack, an interception he returned 32 yards for a touchdown, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries and 71 special teams tackles...In the postseason, Blackburn has 10 tackles (6 solo), 1 pass defensed and 6 special teams tackles.
-          In 2008, played in all 16 regular season games with 9 starts (8 at weakside linebacker and 1 at middle linebacker) and started the NFC Divisional Playoff Game vs. Philadelphia...Contributed a career-high 45 tackles (25 solo), 1 QB hit, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery...Also had a team-high 18 special teams tackles.
-          Made his 1st start of the season at middle linebacker in place of injured Antonio Pierce vs. San Francisco (10/19) and had 8 tackles (6 solo), 1 sack and 1 pass defensed. Recorded his 1st career sack when he stripped J.T. O'Sullivan of the ball for a 7-yard loss in the 4th quarter...Started on the weak side vs. Dallas (11/2) and remained there for the rest of the season.
-          Was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after recording 3 tackles and recovering a fumble on a kickoff at Philadelphia (11/9)...Also stopped Brian Westbrook on 4th-and-1 with 1:47 remaining in victory at Philadelphia...Started at weakside linebacker and also played at middle linebacker in the season finale at Minnesota (12/28) and finished with 6 tackles (5 solo) and 1 QB hit.
-          Made his first career postseason start in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game vs. Philadelphia (1/11) and had 5 tackles (2 solo) and 1 pass defensed.
-          In 2007, played in all 16 regular season games and 4 postseason contests...Recorded a team-high 17 special teams tackles...Saw action at middle linebacker in games vs. San Francisco (10/21), vs. Minnesota (11/25) and at Buffalo (12/23)...Recorded 6 tackles (1 solo).
-          In 2006, played in 16 regular season games and the NFC Wild Card Game...Tied with Reggie Torbor for the team lead with 14 special teams tackles...Saw some reserve action at linebacker...Had 5 tackles (4 solo) and a sack for an 8-yard loss as the nickel linebacker in his 1st career postseason action at Philadelphia in the NFC Wild Card game (1/7).
-          As a rookie in 2005, played in 15 games with 2 starts...Led the Giants with a career-high 22 special teams tackles.
-          Started 2 games at middle linebacker after Antonio Pierce suffered a season-ending ankle injury...Recovered a fumble on the game's opening kickoff to set up Brandon Jacobs' 1-yard touchdown run at New Orleans (9/19)...Played for the 1st time on defense at San Francisco (11/6) when he replaced an injured Nick Greisen for a few plays early in the 3rd quarter...Made 1st NFL start vs. Kansas City (12/17) after Carlos Emmons was a late inactive due to a pec injury. Blackburn finished with 9 tackles (3 solo).
-          Started at middle linebacker at Washington (12/24) and recorded 6 tackles (3 solo) and an interception that he returned for a 32-yard touchdown. Picked off a Mark Brunell pass for James Thrash and ran up the left sideline for his first pro score. He also had 1 special teams tackle...Left the game in the 3rd quarter with a neck strain that ended his season and forced him to go on injured reserve.

COLLEGE:

-          Played in 45 games with 34 starts at Akron...Finished his career with 293 tackles (179 solo), 11 sacks, 38.5 tackles for losses and 3 interceptions...Started all 11 games as a senior and finished 3rd on the team with 71 tackles (41 solo), 5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for losses...Was voted a team captain.

OFF-THE-FIELD ACTIVITY:
 
-           Joined the Giants and American Heart Association to adopt the Town of Lyndhurst, NJ, for the month of April as the town pledged to "Play 60," with increases in in-school and after school physical activity, including numerous fitness events with the team in their community. 
-           Made a Giants' "What Moves U" visit with the American Heart Association to Holdrum Middle School in River Vale, N.J., encouraging all the students to enjoy 60 minutes of active play every day
-           Participated in the Giants Foundation Golf Outing.
-           Played in NBC's golf outing benefitting The March of Dimes.
-           Played in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Outing Fundraiser.
-           Attended the Giants Kickoff Luncheon benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center.
-           Attended Coach Coughlin's "Champions for Children Gala" benefitting The Jay Fund.
-           Showed off his culinary expertise in the Giants Player Developments' "Gridiron Chef Cook-off."
-           Attended the 2nd annual "Taste of the Giants" fundraiser benefitting ShopRite Partners in Caring.
-           Attended Fairleigh Dickinson University's fundraiser for Rich Fritsky.
-           Attended Danny Clark's "Shop with a Jock" holiday shopping spree event for local New Jersey youth.
-           Participated in a Junior Giants Fan Club fitness clinic event
-           Joined Coach Peter Giunta and 13 teammates and fellow coaches at a "Sports Night" fundraiser to benefit the Holy Spirit School.

PERSONAL: 

-           Married (Megan)
-           Starred at Marysville (Ohio) High School, where he had 320 career tackles.
-           Graduated from the University of Akron last spring with a degree in mathematics.
