-           Originally a 2nd round (51st pick overall) draft choice by the Giants in 2007.

GIANTS NOTES: 

-           Smith made one of the biggest plays of the Giants’ 2007 postseason when he caught a short Eli Manning pass and turned it into a 12-yard gain and a first down on a 3rd-and-11 in the waning moments of Super Bowl XLII. On the next play, Manning threw the 13-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress that gave the Giants their upset victory over New England.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

-           Smith has played in 21 games with 4 starts, recording 65 receptions for 637 yards and 1 touchdown…Also played in 5 postseason games with 1 start, where he totaled 16 catches for 169 yards.
-           In 2008, played in all 16 regular season games with 4 starts and started the NFC Divisional Playoff Game…Led the Giants with 57 receptions (9 more than runner-up Amani Toomer) and was 3rd with 574 receiving yards…Had season-high totals of 9 catches for 94 yards at Cleveland (10.13)…Scored his 1st career touchdown on a 5-yard reception from Eli Manning in the 1st quarter vs. Dallas (11/2).
-           As a rookie in 2007, he played in 5 regular season games and in all 4 postseason games…Was inactive for 11 games with a fractured scapula suffered vs. Green Bay (9/16) and then with a hamstring injury…Returned to action vs. Washington (12/16)…        Finished the regular season with 8 receptions for 63 yards…Was outstanding in the postseason, when he caught 14 passes for 152 yards.
-           Caught his first 3 NFL passes at Dallas (9/9)…Had 3 receptions for 29 yards in action as the 3rd receiver at Tampa Bay in the NFC Wild Card Game (1/6)…His 21-yard reception on 3-and-1 in the 2nd quarter helped set up the Brandon Jacobs’ 8-yard touchdown run.
-           Finished tied for the team lead with 4 catches for 48 yards at Dallas in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game (1/13)…Had 22 and 11-yard receptions on consecutive plays on the Giants’ 2-minute drive before the half that resulted in Toomer’s 4-yard touchdown reception that tied the game 14-14 at halftime…Smith’s 11-yard reception on 3rd-and-6 in the 4th quarter extended a drive that resulted in Jacobs’ 1-yard touchdown that gave the Giants a 21-17 lead.
-           Caught 2 passes for 25 yards in the NFC Championship Game at Green Bay (1/20)…Contributed 5 receptions for 50 yards with a long catch of 17 yards in Super Bowl XXLII vs. New England (2/3)…Converted two 3rd downs with receptions of 8 and 9 yards on the Giants’ 1st drive to help set up a Lawrence Tynes’ 32-yard field goal…Smith’s 17-yard reception on 3rd-and-4 extended a drive that resulted in David Tyree’s 5-yard touchdown…His key 12-yard catch on 3rd-and-11 set up Manning’s 13-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Burress.

COLLEGE:

-           Played in 46 games with 27 starts for the Trojans…Finished career with 190 receptions for 3,019 yards (15.9-yard avg.) and 22 touchdowns, with a long catch of 73 yards…Averaged 4.13 receptions and 65.6 yards a game…Smith’s 190 catches placed him 5th in school history and his 3,019 yards receiving ranked 4th…Smith became the 6th receiver in school history to catch at least 20 touchdown passes in a career.

OFF-THE-FIELD ACTIVITY:
 
-           Attended a fundraiser for Eastern Christian High School.
-           Participated in the Giants Foundation Golf Outing.
-           Attended the Giants Kickoff Luncheon benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center.
-           Visited Mt. Sinai Medical Center on Men’s Health Day, encouraging all men to get a check-up, and also made a visit to the pediatric wing.
-           Participated in a “Lift Up America” food distribution event.
-           Joined hundreds of Giants fans on the “Cruise with the Champions” trip to the Bahamas, with numerous Giants themed events over the course of the week.
-           Greeted fans at Big Blue Travel’s “Giants Wrap-up Breakfast.”

PERSONAL:

-           Attended Taft High School in (Woodland Hills, Calif.)… In his 3-year varsity career, he caught 271 passes for 4,545 yards (16.8-yard avg.), both California state records
-           Earned 2002 Parade All-America (and top wide receiver), USA Today All-USA first-team, Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Student Sports All-American first-team, Tom Lemming All-American and The Insiders.com All-American 2nd-team honors…Member of the Prep Star Top 100 Dream Team, The Sporting News Hot 100, FOX Sports 50, Tom Lemming Top 100, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Tom Lemming All-West, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West first team (unanimous), Tacoma News Tribune Western 100 and Orange County Register Fab 15 first-team…Also named Cal-Hi Sports All-State Wide Receiver MVP, All-L.A. City Defensive MVP, Los Angeles Times All-Star 1st-team, Los Angeles Times All-San Fernando Valley 1st-team and Los Angeles Daily News All-Area 1st-team as a senior wide receiver and defensive back.
