-           Originally a 6th round (189th pick overall) draft choice by the Giants in 2007.

GIANTS NOTES: 

-           Koets joined Aaron Ross, Steve Smith, Jay Alford, Zak DeOssie, Kevin Boss, Michael Johnson and Ahmad Bradshaw as 2007 Giants draft choices who contributed in their rookie season.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

-           Has seen action in 1 regular season game and 1 postseason contest.
-           In 2008, was active only for the regular season finale at Minnesota (12/28). Early action came as on extra lineman/eligible receiver before replacing Chris Snee at right guard.
-           As a rookie in 2007, Koets was inactive for all of the Giants' regular season games and 3 of 4 postseason games...Played on special teams in the Giants' NFC Wild Card victory at Tampa Bay (1/6).

            Started the last 37 games of his career at left tackle...Semi-finalist for the Draddy Award, which is given to the nation's top scholar-athlete...Three-time Academic All-Pac 10 honoree...Allowed just 4 sacks during his last 2 years...Was a 2nd team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior in 2006.

-           Participated in the Giants Foundation Golf Outing.
-           Attended the Giants Kickoff Luncheon benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center.
-           Attended Coach Coughlin's "Champions for Children Gala" benefitting The Jay Fund.
-           Joined Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield to host children from Children's Aid and Family Services for a tour of the stadium and autographs on the field.
-           Showed off his culinary expertise in the Giants Player Developments' "Gridiron Chef Cook-off."
-           Attended the 2nd annual "Taste of the Giants" fundraiser benefitting ShopRite Partners in Caring.
-           Joined several teammates and the United Way of Bergen County to construct a playground at the Vincente K. Tibbs Center in Englewood, N.J., as part of the NFL's "Hometown Huddle" nationwide day of service.
-           Attended the Giants' annual fundraiser dinner benefitting The Ronald McDonald House of NYC.
-           Visited the Bronx Warehouse of the Food Bank for New York City, loading a delivery truck of food, which would later be received by their teammates on the defensive line in Harlem, in order to raise awareness of the increased demand for food assistance and the decrease in financial contributions to The Food Bank for New York City.

PERSONAL:

-           Started 3 seasons at defensive end and 1 at left tackle at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Calif...Earned 1st-team All-Century League honors on offense his final season and was a 3-time All-League selection on defense...Second-team All-Orange County and 1st- team All-CIF Division VI choice on offense as a senior.
-           Named the school's scholar-athlete as a senior.
-           An international business major with a minor in German, Koets was a 3-time Academic All-Pac 10 Conference choice...Spent the summer of 2005 in Germany.
-           Son of Helen and Russell Koets (pronounced coats).
