- Koets joined Aaron Ross, Steve Smith, Jay Alford, Zak DeOssie, Kevin Boss, Michael Johnson and Ahmad Bradshaw as 2007 Giants draft choices who contributed in the rookie season.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
- As a rookie in 2007, Koets was inactive for all of the Giants’ regular season games and 3 of 4 postseason games. - Played on special teams in the Giants’ NFC Wild Card victory at Tampa Bay (1/6).
COLLEGE: - Started the last 37 games of his career at left tackle…Semi-finalist for the Draddy Award, which is given to the nation’s top scholar-athlete…Three-time Academic All-Pac 10 honoree…Allowed just 4 sacks during his last 2 years…Was a 2nd team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior in 2006.
OFF-THE-FIELD ACTIVITY:
- Joined several teammates to visit New York City Foodbank’s Café Cielo in the Bronx prior to Thanksgiving to speak to kids about the importance of nutrition and exercise. - Joined teammates to visit wounded soldiers at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, D.C. prior to the Super Bowl champions’ trip to the White House. - Participated in the 2007 Giants Foundation Golf Outing. - Showed off his culinary expertise in the Giants Player Developments’ “Gridiron Chef Cook-off.” - Visited members of the National Guard at McGuire AFB in NJ, and participated in a refueling flight. - Attended the Giants’ annual fundraiser dinner benefitting The Ronald McDonald House of NYC. - Joined numerous teammates at the Ronald McDonald House of NYC for a summer barbeque with the kids and their families. - Attended a fundraiser benefitting the Feal Good Foundation.
PERSONAL:
- Played at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Cal. - Earned 3 letters in football, starting in each of those seasons as a defensive end and during his senior season as a left tackle on offense. - Earned 1st-team All-Century League honors on offense his final season and was a 3-time All-League selection on defense. - Second- team All-Orange County and 1st- team All-CIF Division VI choice on offense as a senior. - Named the school’s scholar-athlete as a senior.
