TRANSACTIONS:

-           Originally a 1st round (31st pick overall) draft choice by the Giants in 2008.

GIANTS NOTES: 

-           Phillips was the 1st safety selected by the Giants in the 1st round of the NFL Draft since Shaun Williams in 1998.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

-           As a rookie in 2008, Phillips played in all 16 regular season games with 3 starts and played in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game...Finished the season with 66 tackles (43 solo) 1 interception, 7 passes defensed and 5 special teams tackles. In the postseason he had 3 solo tackles on defense and 5 special teams tackles.
-           Contributed 3 solo tackles in his NFL debut vs. Washington (9/4)...Recorded his 1st career interception when he picked off a Ben Roethlisberger pass late in the 4th quarter at Pittsburgh (10/26).
-           Made his first career start at safety at Philadelphia (11/9) and finished 2nd on the team with 6 tackles (5 solo) and 1 QB hurry...Started and had 2 solo tackles vs. Baltimore (11/16)...Posted 8 tackles (7 solo) at Arizona (11/23), where had added 2 QB hits and 3 passes defensed...Started vs. Philadelphia (12/7) as the Giants defense opened the game in a dime package and finished with 8 tackles (4 solo) and 1 pass defensed.

COLLEGE:

-           Phillips played in 34 games with 33 starts at Miami before entering the NFL Draft following his junior season. He registered 203 tackles (133 solos), 15 stops for losses of 31 yards, 1 fumble recovery and 3 forced fumbles. He had 7 and 13 pass deflections.
-           Intercepted 3 passes vs. Duke in 2006 to become the 1st Hurricane with 3 picks in one game since Bobby Harden (vs. Brigham Young) in 1988.

OFF-THE-FIELD ACTIVITY:
 
-           Joined with Terrell Thomas to host boys from CPC Boys Residence in Red Bank, N.J. for dinner and a Nets basketball game during the holidays. The 2 players also gave the boys presents of clothing and gift cards.
-           Participated in the Giants Foundation Golf Outing.
-           Entertained pediatric patients from Hackensack University Medical Center at Coach Coughlin's Jay Fund Foundation Ice Cream Social, held at Giants Stadium.
-           Attended the Giants Kickoff Luncheon benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center.
-           Attended the Giants' annual fundraiser dinner benefitting The Ronald McDonald House of NYC.
-           Hosted a "Halloween Party" for pediatric patients in Tomorrows Children's Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center.
-           Attended Sinorice Moss' annual "Dare to Dream" week of fundraiser events benefitting educational programs in the Miami area.

PERSONAL:

-           Attended Carol High School in Miami, where he was rated the best safety in the country, earning USA Today Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior free safety. The Parade All-America and Prep Star Top 100 Dream Team was also a member of the USA Today All-USA High School Football team and rated the nation's best safety prospect and 12th-best player regardless of position by Rivals.com
-           Intercepted 16 passes during his career and as a senior, he finished with 84 tackles, 6 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, 4 defensive touchdowns and 3 punt returns for touchdowns. As a junior, he delivered 54 tackles and 7 interceptions, returning 2 of them for touchdowns, including a 100-yarder. In his sophomore season, he intercepted 3 passes and also competed in basketball and track.
-           Sports Administration major, earning Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as a sophomore...Son of Taranda and Kenneth Wilson...Born Nov. 24, 1986...Resides in Miami.
