GIANTS NOTES:
- Tyree made one of the great plays in Super Bowl history when he secured the ball against his helmet for a 32-yard reception while being hounded by New England safety Rodney Harrison late in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XLII. The catch, which followed an Eli Manning escape from the Patriots’ pass rush, helped set up the Giants’ game-winning touchdown. - A productive and consistent special teams players in the NFL who specializes in downing punts inside the 5-yard line. - Was named to the Pro Bowl after the 2005 season.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
- Has played in 73 regular season games with 5 starts and in 6 postseason games…Tyree has 54 receptions for 650 yards and 4 touchdowns…Has also contributed 85 special teams tackles….Tyree has 4 postseason catches, all in 2007, including 3 in the Super Bowl. - Missed the entire 2008 season after undergoing offseason knee surgery. Tyree was placed on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) when training camp opened on July 24. He became eligible to practice on Oct. 15. The Giants placed him on injured reserve on Nov. 5. - In 2007, he played in 12 regular season games and all 4 postseason games, with no starts….Caught 4 regular season passes for 35 yards and added 9 special teams tackles…Contributed 4 catches for 47 yards and 1 touchdown during the playoffs. - Missed the 1st 2 games of the season at Dallas (9/9) and vs. Green Bay (9/16) while recovering from a fractured wrist suffered in the preseason…Missed games vs. Washington (12/16) and at Buffalo (12/23) following the death of his mother. - Had 3 receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl XLII vs. New England (2/3/08)…Tyree got open in the end zone and scored the Giants’ 1st touchdown on a 5-yard reception from Eli Manning that gave the Giants a 10-7 lead with 11:05 remaining in the 4th quarter…Made one of the most spectacular plays in Super Bowl history with a leaping 32-yard reception on third-and-5 with Patriots defenders close by after Manning eluded several Patriot defensive lineman to get the pass off. The catch set up the Giants’ game-winning touchdown. - In 2006, Tyree played in all 16 regular season games with 1 start, as well as the NFC Wild Card Game in Philadelphia…Finished 3rd on the team with 13 special teams tackles…Recorded a career-high 19 receptions for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. - Had 2 catches for 15 yards and a touchdown at Carolina (12/10)…Started at flanker vs. Chicago (11/12) and finished with 4 receptions for 38 yards and 1 special teams tackle… Posted a team-high 5 receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown at Seattle (9/24). - In 2005, played in 13 regular season games and the NFC Wild Card Game vs. Carolina and was selected to his 1st Pro Bowl team as the NFC special teams player…Tyree was also named the special teams player on the Pro Football Weekly/Professional Football Writers of America All-Pro team…Tied with James Butler for 2nd on the team with 21 special teams tackles (19 solo), 1 one behind team leader Chase Blackburn…Also had 5 receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown, all at San Diego (9/25). - Was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking a punt vs. Philadelphia (11/20) , his 1st action after missing 3 games (vs. Washington, at San Francisco and vs. Minnesota) with an elbow injury suffered vs. Denver (10/23)…Blocked Reggie Hodges’ punt with 4:14 remaining in the 2nd quarter. The Giants recovered the ball at the Philadelphia 1, leading to Manning’s touchdown pass to Amani Toomer. - In 2004, played in all 16 games with 1 start and had 10 receptions for 155 yards with 1 touchdown. Also recorded a team-high 23 special teams tackles…Was named first alternate special teams player to the NFC Pro Bowl team…Started at split end in place of the injured Toomer in the season finale vs. Dallas (1/2) and had a team-high 7 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown. A 15-yard touchdown reception in the 4th quarter was the 1st of his career. - Was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after recording a team-high 3 special teams tackles at Minnesota (10/31). Helped down a Jeff Feagles punt on the 1-yard line in the first quarter. Downed a 30-yard Feagles' punt on the 4-yard line in the 1st quarter vs. Cleveland (9/26). - As a rookie in 2003, he played in all 16 games, one of 4 Giants rookies to do so (the others were David Diehl, Visanthe Shiancoe and Carson Dach)…Started the season’s final 3 games...Led the team with 19 special teams tackles and was named the special teams player on Pro Football Weekly’s All-Rookie team…Also had 16 receptions for 211 yards.
COLLEGE:
- Two-year starter at Syracuse, where he was a valuable performer on the kickoff and punt coverage units. - Caught 75 passes for 1,214 yards (16.2-yard avg.) and 6 touchdowns and returned 4 punts for 70 yards (17.5-yard avg.), including a score, and recorded 50 special teams tackles (36 solo) with a forced fumble and 5 blocked kicks during his career. - Started every game as a senior, finishing 2nd on the team with a career-high 36 receptions for 559 yards (15.5-yard avg.) and 3 touchdowns, adding 25 yards on a punt return…Recorded 20 special teams tackles (18 solo) and blocked a kick.
OFF-THE-FIELD ACTIVITY:
- A devout Christian and devoted community leader, Tyree has recently taken on a grass-roots ministry project called Next in Line. Thinking globally and acting locally, he embarked on the endeavor with his wife, Leilah. Next in Line opened its doors on March 31, 2006. The Tyrees provide forums and church activities that began with a small group of parishioners that they see expanding as they develop the services further. Tyree foresees after-school programs for underserved communities that can spark spirituality and provide holistic care. - Hosts an annual “All-Pro Bowling Classic” to raise operating funds for his Next in Line program and The International Children's Support Foundation, a non-profit charity that helps in-need children around the world. - Participated in the Hampton's Golf Classic benefitting The Make a Wish Foundation. - Attended the Giants Kick-off Luncheon Benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center. - Celebrated the Kickoff of the Giants’ 2008 season by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. - Attended the 2nd annual “Taste of the Giants” fundraiser benefitting ShopRite Partners in Caring. - Attended a campus ministry night at Montclair State University, serving as a guest speaker. - Attended a fundraiser dinner for My Sister’s Place, a domestic violence shelter for women and their children that has been dedicated as the “Giants Courage House.”

- Married (Leilah). They have 2 sons, Teyon and Josiah, and twin daughters, Hannah and Sophia, who were born shortly after the Super Bowl. - Son of Jesse and the late Thelma Tyree. - Blue Chip Illustrated All-America...Super Prep, Tom Lemming and Prep Star All Regional selection. - Born David Mikel Tyree on Jan. 3, 1980 in Livingston, New Jersey.
