In each of the last 2 seasons, Baas received the Bob McKittrick Award, given annually to the 49ers offensive lineman who best represents courage, intensity and sacrifice.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Has played in 92 games with 54 starts…Baas has played in 63 consecutive games and made 41 consecutive starts…Has started games at center (16 in 2010), left guard (9 in 2008 and 16 in 2009) and right guard (5 in 2005, 8 in 2007).

In 2010, started all 16 games at center after moving from left guard when a broken fibula sidelined Eric Heitmann in training camp. At season’s end, he was named the recipient of the Bob McKittrick Award for 2nd consecutive season…Made 1st career start at center at Seattle (9/12)…Part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack on 32 pass attempts by Alex Smith vs. New Orleans (9/20)…Part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack on 19 pass attempts by Troy Smith vs. Denver (10/31).

In 2009, started all 16 games at left guard…Helped the team rush for a season-high 246 yards. vs. Seattle (9/20)….Part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack on of Alex Smith on any of his 41 pass attempts vs. Jacksonville (11/29), the 1st time the 49ers did not give up a sack since 11/10/08 at Arizona.

In 2008, played in all 16 games, starting the final 9 at left guard…Originally penciled in as a starter entering the offseason, but a torn pectoral muscle suffered in April held him out for the majority of training camp…Made 1st career start at left guard vs. Seattle (10/26), replacing Adam Snyder in starting lineup.

In 2007, played in 15 games with 8 starts...Took over at right guard after Justin Smiley suffered at shoulder injury at Atlanta (11/14),,,Made his 1st start of the season at right guard at Seattle (11/12)…Did not play in the season opener vs. Arizona (9/10), the last time he missed a game.

In 2006, played in all 16 games, including 3 on the offensive line…Saw action at center at Denver (12/31), helping the offense rush for 198 yards in a 26-23 overtime victory.

As a rookie in 2005, played in 13 games, starting the final 5 games at right guard…Was 1 of 9 49ers draft choices who played in a game in 2005…Made his career debut on special teams vs. Arizona in Mexico City (10/2)…First career start was at right guard vs. Arizona (12/4). Center Jeremy Newberry was injured, so Eric Heitmann moved from guard to center and Baas stepped in at guard.

COLLEGE

Three-year starter and four-year letter-winner at Michigan…Redshirted in 2000…The following year, played in 6 games with 1 start at left guard…In 2002 and 2003, started every game at left guard and was a 2-time All-Big Ten selection by the league’s coaches and media…As a junior in 2003, was also a 2nd-team AP All-America…In 2004, was named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year…Started the first 3 games at left guard before shifting to center…Winner of the Hugh H. Rader Award as Michigan’s top offensive lineman.

PERSONAL

David and his wife, Elizabeth, have a son, Bryson…Majored in general studies…USA Today High School All-America at Riverview High School in Sarasota, Fla.…Named first-team all-state and all-area as a senior….Played in Florida-Georgia All-Star Game and Florida-California All-Star Game…Earned four letters in track. Threw career-best (53 ft, 11 inch) shot put as a senior and earned all-county and all-area honors three times in shot put…David came into the world in a bank parking lot. With his mom in labor and unable to reach the hospital in time, David’s father delivered him in the family Datsun….Born Sept. 28, 1981.
