Has impressed coaches with his work on the scout team and in limited playing time in his first 2 seasons.
CAREER NOTES
Has played in 9 games with no starts and caught 6 passes for 80 yards with a long reception of 26 yards.
In 2010, played in 6 games and was inactive for 3 games…Had 5 catches for 64 yards, including 3 for 34 yards, with a long of 26 yards, vs. Dallas (11/14)…But he suffered an ankle injury in the game that forced him to go on injured reserve and miss the final 7 games of the season.
As a rookie in 2009, played in 3 games and was inactive for the other 13 games…Caught 1 pass, a 16-yarder in the season finale at Minnesota (1/3)…Played on special teams at Dallas (9/20) and on special teams and at wide receiver at Tampa Bay (9/27).

At Cal Poly, Barden played in 46 games with 43 starts - 21 at “X” receiver and 22 at “Z” receiver…Caught 206 passes for 4,203 yards and 50 touchdowns…His average of 20.4 yards per catch was the highest career average by a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) player since Dedric Ward of Northern Iowa (22.02 from 1993-96)…His 2007 average of 25.7 yards per catch was the highest mark by an FCS player since Mikhael Ricks of Stephen F. Austin averaged 28.9 yards per reception in 1997…His average of 39.5 yards per reception vs. Northern Colorado in 2007 was the highest game average by an FCS player since John Taylor of Delaware State averaged 44.6 yards vs. St. Paul’s in 1985…Set FCS career records with a touchdown reception in 32 games and with at least 1 in 20 consecutive contests, topping the previous marks of at least 1 score in 17 straight contests and in 26 games by Jerry Rice of Mississippi Valley State (1981-84)…His string of 11 consecutive games with at least 1 touchdown in 2008 tied the NCAA record that was first set by Randy Moss of Marshall in 1996…Barden’s 50 touchdowns tied Rice for 2nd in FCS history behind David Ball of New Hampshire (58, 2003-06)…His 18 touchdown receptions in both 2007 and 2008 set the school and Great West Conference records and rank 7th on the NCAA single-season chart…His 4,203 yards receiving placed him 4th in the NCAA career-record book behind Rice (4,693), Ball (4,655) and Jacquay Nunnally of Florida A&M (4,239, 1997-2000)…Barden’s 206 receptions broke the previous school career-record of 177 by Darrell Jones (2001-04)…His 1,467 receiving yards in 2007 set the Cal Poly single-season record and his 1,257 yards are 3rd in school history…As a senior in 2008, Barden caught 67 passes for 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns.
