Biography

Matt Shauger is in his third season as the Giants’ assistant director of pro personnel, his 11th as a member of the pro personnel department and 13th in the NFL.
Matt Shauger is in his third season as the Giants’ assistant director of pro personnel, his 11th as a member of the pro personnel department and 13th in the NFL.

Shauger’s primary duties include film study of NFL players and free agents, evaluation of current Giants’ players, scouting upcoming opponents and management of the team’s pro scouting database. During the season, he assists the Giants’ coaching staff with advance scouting of opponents, including their personnel and tendencies.  He contributed to both the Super Bowl XLII and XLVI championship teams.

Prior to joining the Giants in 2005, Shauger began his pro football career in Europe as the assistant to former NFL Director of International Scouting, Tony Allen.  Based in the league’s foreign headquarters in London, Shauger aided in the identification and development of international players while researching and formulating strategies for globally expanding American Football.

Shauger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and sport management from Seton Hall University in 2002. He and his wife, novelist Lisa Van Allen, live in Wayne, N.J.
