Christian Jones is in his first season as a Giants offensive assistant.
Jones spent the previous three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, the first as an offensive quality control coach and last two as an assistant wide receivers coach.
In 2021, Minnesota led the NFL with an interception percentage of just 1.2 (seven picks on 604 attempts) while finishing 11th in the league with 249.3 passing yards a game. Second-year pro Justin Jefferson was second in the NFL with 1,616 receiving yards and fourth with 108 catches. Jefferson and Adam Thielen (67 catches for 726 yards) each had 10 touchdown receptions.
The previous year, Jefferson set an NFL rookie record with 1,400 yards and set Vikings rookie marks in yards, receptions (88) and 100-yard games (7) en route to 2nd-team AP all-pro honors, a Pro Bowl berth and a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team. Thielen had a career-best 14 touchdown catches.
While working with Jones in 2019, wideout Stefon Diggs recorded a career-high 1,130 receiving yards and led the NFL with eight receptions of 40+ yards.
In 2018, Jones was an offensive graduate assistant at the University of Texas, where he worked primarily with the wide receivers and tight ends. Jones helped the Longhorns offense average 31.1 points and 411.3 yards per game as the team finished 11-4, including a victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
A Northwestern University graduate, Jones assisted his alma mater as an offensive intern during the 2017 season, working with the offensive line. With Jones on staff the Wildcats ranked among the Big Ten's top five teams in scoring offense (29.2 pointers-per-game), total offense (408.0 yards-per-game) and rushing (174.2 yards a game).
Jones played wide receiver at Northwestern from 2011-15. In 51 games, he caught 128 passes for 1,509 yards and eight touchdowns. Jones led the Wildcats in receiving yards with 412 as a true sophomore in 2012. He did not play in 2014 while rehabbing an injury sustained during training camp but totaled 234 receiving yards his redshirt senior season in 2015.
Jones was a three-year member of Northwestern's 12-player Leadership Council, selected to the Academic All-Big Ten team and was a team captain in 2015.
Jones earned two degrees from Northwestern, a bachelor's degree in learning and organizational change and a master's in management studies. He has been a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity since 2013.
Jones attended Westfield High School in his hometown of Houston.
