Gary Emanuel, a 38-year coaching veteran, is in his second season as the Giants’ defensive line coach. The Giants’ young defensive linemen played impressively in Emanuel’s first season with the team. B.J. Hill played in every game with 12 starts and set a Giants rookie record with 5.5 sacks, breaking the former standard of 5.0 sacks that had been shared by linebacker Andy Headen (1983) and defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin (2000). Hill had a season-high 3.0 sacks against Chicago. It was the first three-sack game by a Giants player since Jason Pierre-Paul had 3.0 sacks at Denver on Oct. 15, 2017, and the first by a Giants rookie since Philip Tabor did it vs. Philadelphia on Sept. 23, 1979.
