The free agent frenzy began on March 9th, and since then all 32 teams have been diligently been looking at adding and subtracting to their rosters. The Giants made a big splash last year in the opening days of free agency, signing Olivier Vernon, Janoris Jenkins and Damon Harrison. So far in 2017, Big Blue has inked wide receiver Brandon Marshall, tight end Rhett Ellison and offensive lineman D.J. Fluker. The Giants also re-signed running back Orleans Darkwa.

NFL Media analyst Elliott Harrison factored in the opening wave of free agency to reorder the NFL power structure, releasing his first set of power rankings to reflect the moves around the league. Harrison likes what he sees in East Rutherford and has the Giants ranked 5th.

"If D.J. Fluker pans out, Big Blue might be the favorite coming out of the NFC," Harrison writes. "Laugh at your own peril. (Sorry for that line. Been watching way too many '80s movies lately, movies where chintzy dialogue is king, movies like "Conan the Barbarian.") Offensive line could row this boat to the postseason. Ditto Brandon Marshall, who won't be mistaken for Captain Stubing any time soon. All eyes will be on Paulie Perkins this season following the release of Rashad Jennings. But with the second-ranked scoring defense from last season, and a passing game that's ready to burst, this is the best team in the NFC East. Right now, of course. This is subject to change."

Elliott Harrison's Top 10 NFL Power Rankings:

  1. New England Patriots
    1. Atlanta Falcons
    2. Pittsburgh Steelers
    3. Oakland Raiders
      5. New York Giants
    4. Green Bay Packers
    5. Dallas Cowboys
    6. Kansas City Chiefs
    7. Seattle Seahawks
    8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Harrison's NFC East Power Rankings:

5. New York Giants
7. Dallas Cowboys
15. Washington Redskins
19. Philadelphia Eagles
