5 things you need to know about RB Shaun Draughn

Here are five things you need to know about the Giants' newly signed running back, Shaun Draughn:

  1. A 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back, Shaun Draughn signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He has played six NFL seasons with eight different teams. Draughn most recently spent two years as a member of the San Francisco 49ers backfield.

2. The versatile power back had his two most productive pro seasons with the 49ers. Draughn rushed for a career-high 263 yards in 2015 and had a career-high 263 receiving yards this past season to go along with six total touchdowns, also a career high.

  1. Draughn has 225 career rushing attempts for 723 yards, a 3.2 average. Draughn has 80 career receptions for 597 yards, a 7.5 average. The running back has nine career touchdowns.
  1. A native of Tarboro, North Carolina, Draughn committed to the Tar Heels after a standout career at Tarboro High School. At Tarboro, Draughn earned three varsity letters in football as a quarterback, defensive back, linebacker and running back. He gained 1,452 rushing yards during his senior season with the Vikings while earning all-league honors.
  1. The 29-year-old played four seasons at North Carolina and finished with 2,070 rushing yards on 451 carries. His best performance came during his final game in Carolina blue. Draughn rushed for a career-high 160 yards on 23 carries, including a 58-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, to help lead UNC to a 30-27 double overtime win over Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Draughn majored in communications during his time at Chapel Hill.
