EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today made player transactions on both their active roster and practice squad.

The Giants signed defensive end Devin Taylor, a five-year veteran who has 15.0 career sacks and was with the team in the preseason. They placed defensive end Nordly "Cap" Capi on injured reserve. Capi suffered a hamstring injury in the Giants' most recent game, against Seattle on Oct. 22.

In addition, the Giants signed linebacker Trevor Bates to the practice squad and terminated the contract of wide receiver Kalif Raymond.

Taylor, 6-8 and 270 pounds, signed with the Giants on May 25. He played in all four preseason games, finishing with five tackles (two solo) and an interception against Pittsburgh that he returned 23 yards. His contract was terminated on Sept. 2.

Taylor entered the NFL as the Detroit Lions' fourth-round draft choice (132nd overall) from South Carolina. In four seasons, he played in 61 regular-season games with 18 starts, and in two postseason games with one start. His career totals include 92 tackles (69 solo), those 15.0 sacks, and four forced fumbles, plus five tackles (three solo) in the playoffs.

In 2016, Taylor started each of the Lions' 17 games and finished the season with 28 tackles (21 solo), 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Capi was signed to the Giants' practice squad on Sept. 4, and to the active roster on Sept. 28. He played in his first four NFL games and had two special teams tackles.

Bates, 6-2 and 247 pounds, played in one game for the Indianapolis Colts in 2016, when he was a seventh-round draft choice from the University of Maine. He was released on Oct. 13, four days after playing against Chicago. On Nov. 7, he was signed to the New England Patriots' practice squad, where he stayed for the remainder of the season. This year, the Patriots released him from their roster on Sept. 2, and from their practice squad three days later.

Raymond had been on the Giants' practice squad since Oct. 11.
