The New York Giants signed defensive lineman Elijah Chatman, an undrafted free agent who attended the team's rookie minicamp this past weekend on a tryout basis.
In a corresponding move, the Giants waived outside linebacker Jeremiah Martin, who was signed to a reserve/future deal following the 2023 season.
Chatman, 6-foot and 278 pounds, played 60 games at Southern Methodist University, the second-most in program history. He was named first-team All-American Athletic Conference as a graduate student in 2023, when he totaled 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. Chatman was also named second-team All-AAC in 2021 and 2022.
A native of Shreveport, La., Chatman was named the Class 5A All-State Defensive Player of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
