5 things to know about RB Orleans Darkwa


Running back Orleans Darkwa comes to the New York Giants from the Miami Dolphins' practice squad. Darkwa made Miami's active roster as an undrafted rookie, playing in four games this season before being released and re-signed to the practice squad.

2. In four regular-season games, Darkwa has four rushes for two yards, in addition to three catches for 31 yards with a long of 17.

3. Darkwa earned his roster spot by carrying the ball 25 times for 112 yards (4.5) and a touchdown in the preseason, including a long of run of 53 yards against the Dallas Cowboys. He also had seven catches for 53 yards.

Darkwa was a four-year letterman at Tulane, where he ran for 2,953 yards and 39 touchdowns on 663 carries (4.5 avg.), hauled in 77 passes for 595 yards (7.7 avg.), returned eight kickoffs for 150 yards (18.8 avg.), completed 3-of-5 passes for 77 yards (15.4 avg.) and a pair of touchdowns, and plunged in for one two-point conversion during his career.

Playing in 46 games with 35 starts, he completed his career tied for first in school history in rushing touchdowns (39), second in total touchdowns (39), third in rushing attempts (663), fourth in rushing yards (2,953) and 100-yard rushing games (10), sixth in points scored (236), eighth in rushing yards per game (64.2) and 10th in both all-purpose yards (3,698) and yards per carry (4.45). He was born Orleans Opoku-Darkwa on Feb. 28, 1992, in Nashville, Tenn.
