Abdul Carter has been named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team following his strong first season with the Giants.

The rookie was recognized one day after veteran outside linebacker Brian Burns was named to the PFWA All-NFL Team.

Carter contributed to a sack in four consecutive games late in the season, the most by a Giants rookie since 1982. He also recorded 23 quarterback hits, the most by a Giants rookie.

He finished his rookie year with four sacks, 43 tackles (25 solo), seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

The 22-year-old picked things up in the final stretch of the season. Over the final six games, Carter registered three games with at least three quarterback hits while also totaling six tackles for loss during that span.

Carter's 72 quarterback pressures on the season ranked seventh in the NFL and only five behind Cleveland's Myles Garrett for sixth, according to Next Gen Stats.

The rookie out of Penn State showed a tremendous ability to get after the quarterback quickly, as his 48 quick pressures (under 2.5 seconds) led the entire NFL and were five more than any other player (Nik Bonitto was second with 43).
