By the numbers: Inside Pat Shurmur's offense

A look at the Minnesota Vikings' offense in 2017 under offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur:

Giants.com went back and took a deep dive into the numbers from his most recent post as offensive coordinator of the 13-3 Minnesota Vikings. Here are some interesting numbers we came up with from the 2017 season:

53.6 - The Vikings averaged 53.6 rushes + completions per game (1st in NFL).

61.0% - The Vikings ran the ball 61.0% of the time on first-and-10 (highest % in NFL).

1.000 - The Vikings were 3-0 in games when their QB passed for 300+ yards. They were one of six teams with a perfect record in that situation; the Giants were 0-2.

7 - Minnesota attempted only seven fourth-down conversions (fewest in NFL). NFC North rival Green Bay led the league with 28 attempts.

21 - Minnesota had 21 first-and-goals from inside the five-yard line and scored 19 touchdowns on them (both most in NFL). On the two they did not convert into touchdowns, they kicked a field goal on one and ran out of time on the other.

32:26 - The Vikings had a 32:26 average time of possession (2nd in NFL).

108.36 - Vikings quarterbacks had a passer rating of 108.36 while being blitzed (2nd in NFL).

43.5 - Minnesota was No. 3 on third down in 2017 (43.5%).

14 - The Vikings turned the ball over just 14 times (3rd fewest in NFL).

5.05 - The Vikings averaged 5.05 points per red-zone trip (4th in NFL).

18.4% Only 18.4% of Vikings drives ended in a three-and-out (6th best in NFL)

4 - The Vikings notched four rushing touchdowns on opening possessions (tied for 1st).

9 - Minnesota had nine scores (four touchdowns + five field goals) on first possessions of second half (2nd behind New England).

23 - Minnesota scored 23 points in the two-minute offense (tied for 6th).

47.5 - The Vikings ran the ball on 47.5% of total plays (5th in NFL).
