EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The new era of Giants leadership extends to the team's 2020 captains.
The Giants announced the six captains for Joe Judge's first season as head coach, which begins Monday night at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were chosen in a vote by the players.
Saquon Barkley is the only one of the six who was a captain in 2019. Two of the captains – Blake Martinez and Nate Ebner – are first-year Giants.
The Giants' 2020 captains:
Offense: Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones
Defense: Blake Martinez, Dalvin Tomlinson
Special Teams: Nate Ebner, Jabrill Peppers

Jones, like Barkley last year, was selected to be a captain in his second season. This is the 14th consecutive season the Giants' starting quarterback will serve as a captain. Eli Manning, of course, held the honor the last 13 years.
Barkley is the only running back to be a captain since the Giants began selecting season-long captains in 2007.
Tomlinson, a defensive/nose tackle, started all 48 games in each of his first three seasons. He is the first defensive lineman to be elected a captain since Justin Tuck in 2013.
Martinez joined the Giants as a free agent this season from the Green Bay Packers, for whom he was a rotating game captain last year.
Ebner played on three Super Bowl championship teams in his eight seasons with the New England Patriots. Though listed as a safety, Ebner played almost exclusively on special teams the last three years.
Peppers, a starting safety who also returns punts, is a second-year Giant who played his first two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
