Coach Tom Coughlin - 10/11

**

Q: How much did Hakeem do today?**A: He did individual and that was the plan.

Q: Is his status determined on how he feels after this?A: It's always the next day. He's got another day.

Q: Is the plan for him to do a little bit more?A: Yes, see how he is and practice if he can.

Q: Did David Diehl do a little bit today?A: A little bit.

Q: Martellus Bennett?A: Did some today, yeah.

Q: Is there some hope for him to play on Sunday?A: Always hope. Always.

Q: Hakeem has missed so much time. Is that a big concern?A: It is, no question, but he's into it. He's in every meeting. He listens to every comment made about the other receivers, guys at his position. He studies the tape. He's done all of those things. Has he repped every route? No.

Q: How about Hakeem's conditioning?
A: His weight is fine. Everything that way is fine. He does what he can do in the training room.

Q: Is the swelling gone from Hakeem's knee?A: I don't know. Truthfully, I don't know. He seems to be doing better and feels good. He has a smile on his face looking forward to his time out here.

Q: Did he look all right moving around?
A: Yes. He moved around okay.

Q: How did Kenny Phillips do after running yesterday?A: He's still got a ways to go.

Q: Not a lot of attention is being paid to special teams. I'm sure the big plays are a much bigger part of this game for you than maybe we think.
A: No question. Special teams is huge, let's face it. We have been making very good progress until last week and then didn't play very well. We've got to play well again. They have a very good return game.

Q: They have a great front seven when it comes to getting after the quarterback. Against the run, they're also top 10. What do you guys need to do against the run?A: Block them.

Q: Anything in particular?A: It's going to be a physical battle. If you expect to be able to stay in it, you have to run the ball and you've got to run the ball.

Q: Without Andre, do you think David Wilson is ready for this kind of physical challenge?A: The physical challenge, no doubt about it. He's ready for that. He wants more. Let's put it that way.

Q: What are the keys to stopping their run game?A: They're very diversified and, first of all, you have to recognize the personnel that's in the game and align accordingly and then it becomes the physical part of it… the one on one individual battles that take place in every game. They do have a few wrinkles that they use and you've got to adjust well to that. They run the option. They do some things of that nature and you have to have people in the right place at the right time and hopefully just don't allow them to get the ball outside, get it on the corner on the end and when they do come with it, the dive part of it has got to be taken care of.

Q: Is David Wilson ready for the mental challenge of it?A: I think he's grown in that regard, too.

Q: Are they a bit of a different team because they run the ball so much?A: Since Jim has been there, that's their… Their calling card is their run game and they do a very, very good job of it and then they throw off of the run action. So that's the way they play. They're diversified in it and they do a very nice job with it.

Q: Is there a role for Diehl if he doesn't start right away?
A: We've got to get him ready to be able to play. That's the thing.

Q: He's not quite there yet?
A: He's getting there.
