Coach Tom Coughlin

Head Coach Tom Coughlin

September 5, 2011

Q: Did Beckum practice?

A: Yes he did, a full practice.

Q: Did Tuck practice?

A: No.

Q: What's wrong with Tuck?

A: Just the same thing from before. He is well on his way. He feels good but it is just…Wednesday would be a better day for him.

Q: How much of practice was game planning?

A: Half of it was cards and the other half was like a training camp look.

Q: Will Osi play this weekend?

A: I don't think so. It is a little early.

Q: Is Bear Pascoe more of a fullback or tight end?

A: Both. He plays both. He plays tight end and he plays fullback. We do have Henry (Hynoski) to help though. You will see him in more of a rotation as a tight end rather than the other way but I wouldn't exclude him.

Q: Do you think this is your 53-man team or are you planning on making more moves?

A: This is our team but we are constantly looking to upgrade or make a move.

Q: Do you plan on talking to the team about it being the regular season now?

A: I plan on meeting them right now if I can get a chance and get away from you guys. They know what's going on and they are aware of it. We will talk about the 53 and the way we practice and how they have to take all the reps now, so get ready for that, too. It is game week so get your focus on. Preparation is the key to success.

Q: How do you think Jake Ballard progressed through the preseason?

A: He got better.

Q: From a blocking standpoint?

A: Both, and moving up the field, too.

Q: Are you still not planning on putting Domenik Hixon back on punt returns?

A: We will see. We will have to wait and see on that one.

Q: After the emphasis on legal and illegal hits last season, many thought the offseason would be an important time for the players to continue to adjust. Without the offseason, have you addressed the emphasis with your team?

A: Yes, defenseless players, sure. We went over the defenseless player issues explicitly and so did the officials when they visited camp. We covered it very thoroughly early on.

Q: Have you noticed a difference in hitting so far?

A: I really didn't notice anything different but then again I don't remember any fouls. There were a couple situations where I questioned what we were told in the offseason and the way it was interpreted or but they had explanations for all of that, too.

Q: How do you feel about all the rookies on the roster? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

A: It better be a good thing, it has to be a good thing. They bring vitality, they bring energy and I just hope we can get it down, chain it down and get it in the right direction.
