Giants draft Arizona State DT D.J. Davidson with 147th pick


With the 147th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected Arizona State defensive tackle DJ Davidson.

One of two Sun Devils to start all 12 games on defense this past season.

The 20th-highest graded defender overall in the Pac-12 (76.0), regardless of position, and the third-highest graded defensive interior lineman in the league; 15th-highest graded defender in league on run defense (77.7) and tops among interior linemen.

Recorded 31 defensive "stops" on run defense this year, good for second in the FBS among interior linemen behind only Cincinnati's Curtis Brooks.

Key contributor to the Sun Devil defense, starting 12 of 13 games at nose tackle

Played a factor in the run game, anchoring the middle of the defensive line

Extremely productive numbers for his position, collecting 51 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss

Had a breakout game in the win over Sacramento State, compiling 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks

Recorded a career-high seven tackles while adding a tackle for loss in back-to-back weeks on the road against Utah and UCLA

Made at least one tackle in all 13 games, finishing with four or more in eight games

Redshirt Freshman (2018)

Had forced his way into the defensive line rotation before suffering a season-ending injury

Played in 8 games along the interior of the defense, giving the Sun Devils physicality in the trenches

Finished the season with 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks while also breaking up a pass

Enjoyed an outstanding collegiate debut in the victory over UTSA (9/1), collecting four tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks
