Jones, Slayton up for Pepsi Rookie of the Week

Another week and, once again, the Giants are represented in the Pepsi Rookie of the Week vote. This time, by two players.

For the third time this season, Daniel Jones has been nominated for the weekly honor. Jones completed 26 of 40 pass attempts (65.0%) for 308 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Jets in Week 10, good enough for a 121.7 passer rating. Jones added three carries for 20 yards.

The sixth overall pick was also nominated for the award in Weeks 3 and 8. With his outings against the Jets (Week 10), Lions (Week 8) and Redskins (Week 3), Jones became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to have three games of at least 300 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. In addition, Jones is just the fifth rookie quarterback ever to have at least two games with four passing touchdowns.

On the season, Jones has completed 63.0% of his passes for 1,984 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions while carrying the ball 32 times for 208 yards (6.5-yard avg.) and two touchdowns.

Darius Slayton's performance against the Jets in Week 10 earned him his first nomination for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award. The fifth-round pick finished the game with 10 receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns, marking his second two-touchdown game in the last three weeks.

The 22-year-old receiver has now registered 27 receptions for 394 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. Slayton's five touchdowns are tied with Washington's Terry McLaurin, Kansas City's Mecole Hardman and Seattle's DK Metcalf for the most touchdown receptions among all rookies.

The other nominees for the Week 10 Pepsi Rookie of the Week award are Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray (27 of 44 attempts for 324 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, 97.2 passer rating), Oakland defensive end Clelin Ferrell (eight tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss and one pass defended) and Oakland running back Josh Jacobs (16 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown, three receptions for 30 receiving yards).

Giants running back Saquon Barkley was named the 2018 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year after his outstanding season last year.

The Pepsi Rookie of the Week award is decided by a fan vote each week. Make sure to show your support to Big Blue by submitting a vote for Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton for this week's honor.
