DE Umenyiora on returning to Playoffs

osi_article_new.jpg

Q: How were you able to come back and get two sacks in your first game?A: I think it is because I have been playing for so long. I have been doing it for such a while that even when I rehab it is working on football stuff. When I get back out there it doesn't feel like I missed any time at all.

Q: Did you re-injure yourself?A: I didn't re-injure it, I think it is the lingering effect that happened. I just have to keep on playing through that.

Q: Do you feel as a front four that the key is you?A: No, not at all because in order for us to do what we do, other people have to do their job also. The DBs have to give us time to get there. The linebackers have to cover and everybody has to do their job. We all work hand in hand. It is not just on us, if nobody covers, we are not going to get any sacks. If we don't get any pressure, then they are going to have to cover for 10 seconds so everything works hand in hand, it is not just about us.

Q: Do you feel like you have the best defensive front in the playoffs?A: I wouldn't say that. I would say that and the offense because if the offense scores the ball the way they have been doing that puts us in a better situation to take advantage of our pass rush. If it is a tie game or the other team is up, we don't have that opportunity to take advantage of that.

Q: After the last two years, how does it feel to be back in the playoffs?A: It feels good. I am just happy to get back here after all the talk of us not making it and the talk this year about us not being here the fact that we came together and pulled through definitely feels good.

Q: How is the confidence of this team right now?A: It is high. We have been through a lot and weathered every storm that has been there. There has been adversity and ups and downs that we have had. To be playing the way we are playing right now and at the right time will give us a lot of confidence.
