Eisen's Mailbag: J.D. Walton at center?

Please give us the background on J.D. Walton. Why or how did he go from Denver to Washington? Did he lose his starting job in Denver, was he injured?
-Bruce

Dear Bruce:
Walton started the first 36 games of his career for Denver before dislocating his ankle in a game against Oakland on Sept. 30, 2012. That forced him to go on injured reserve. He began the 2013 season on the physically unable to perform list. He was activated on Nov. 5, but didn't appear in a game before he was waived on Dec. 17. Washington was awarded him the following day, but he never played a game there. The Giants signed him as an unrestricted free agent.**[

-Ken

Dear Ken:
My guess is neither. Ross wants to continue playing, but I doubt it will be with the Giants. They brought him back last year and it didn't work out (due largely to his back injury). The Giants have Prince Amukamara, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond and Trumaine McBride. If they don't select a corner in the draft and Ross is still unsigned, perhaps the Giants could reach out to him again. But I think both sides want to move on.>> WHERE HAVE GIANTS FREE AGENTS SIGNED?Do you have any thought as to why Adrien Robinson hasn't broken through on the TE Depth Chart? We seem to keep burning through 1-2 year trial guys since Shockey was let go, with Brandon Myers being the latest 1-year stop-gap. I had hoped Robinson would garner some playing time in 2013.

-Joe

Dear Joe:
Adrien Robinson has been held back by a couple of circumstances. As a rookie, he missed most of the spring practices because he was completing his academic requirements at Cincinnati. He never really caught up and played in just two games. Last year he was off the field for much of the spring because of a foot injury. It took a while to regain his health and when he did, the Giants had set a rotation without him. Robinson finally got on the field at Detroit on Dec. 22– and suffered a season-ending knee injury on the opening kickoff. He has to get on the field and produce once he gets there. He'll get another opportunity this year.
